Meeting on organic gardens is tonight

Nature Connection of West Milford is hosting a kick-off meeting and organic garden education from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at the West Milford Township Library, rooms 6 & 7.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

Participants will get a brief overview of the nonprofit’s community gardens and how they work. Then, they may sign up.

There is a $40 fee for a 8-foot-by-8-foot plot; the fee helps cover the cost of tools and other garden essentials. Please bring cash or a check.

At 7:45 p.m., Barbara Taylor-Laino of Midsummer Farm in Warwick, N.Y., will discuss the do’s and don’ts of organic gardening.

Garden Club schedules February meeting

Members of the Escalon Farmington Community Garden Club have their February meeting scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 1.

The session will begin at 1 p.m. and will be hosted at the Escalon United Methodist Church, 2000 Jackson Ave., Escalon. All gardening enthusiasts throughout the area are encouraged to attend.

Guest speaker will be the head gardener for Zinc House Family Farm in Escalon with the topic of organic gardening.

There will also be a door prize, snacks and raffle drawings.

Club meetings start with the guest speaker, followed by a short snack break, and conclude with the club’s business meeting.

Also anticipated is a special guest, with Paula Elias, Director of Valley Lode District, expected to visit the meeting.

Ackworth Garden Club July Monthly Meeting | Community

This is a joint meeting with Ackworth Garden Club and Grant Sunshine Garden Club members on Wednesday, July 12th. At 9:00 AM garden club members will tour Edge of the Woods Raspberry Farm (15285 Fairfax St., Indianola IA) and then travel to Fogle’s Organic Aronia Berry Farm (14769 Buchanan St., Carlisle IA). At approximately noon, after the two tours, garden club members travel to Scotch Ridge Presbyterian Church and enjoy a picnic lunch provided by Ackworth Garden Club . Ackworth Garden Club business meeting will begin after lunch with gardening Q&A.
